Polk Shelters Open Tuesday

Polk County will open public shelters Tuesday morning for people who cannot stay in their homes during Tropical Storm Fay, which may be a hurricane by the time it hits.

Shelters for the general public and a pet-friendly shelter will open at 10 a.m. The three special-needs shelters will open at 7 a.m. Those shelters are for people with medical needs that require them to have access to electricity.

GENERAL SHELTERS

Bartow High School, 1270 S. Broadway Ave., Bartow.

Dr. N.E. Roberts Elementary Shool, 6600 Green Road, Lakeland.

Jewett School of the Arts, 2250 Eighth St. N.E., Winter Haven.

Purcell Elementary School, 305 First Ave. N.E., Mulberry.

R. Bruce Wagner Elementary School, 5500 Yates Road, Lakeland.

Ridge Community Senior High School, 500 Orchid Drive, Haines City.

Spook Hill Elementary School, 321 Dr. J.A. Wiltshire Ave. E., Lake Wales.

PET-FRIENDLY SHELTER

Lake Region High School, 1995 Thunder Road, Eagle Lake.

SPECIAL NEEDS

Polk County Health Department Specialty Care Unit, 1255 Brice Blvd., Bartow.

Haines City Adult Day Care, 751 Scenic Highway, Haines City.

Lakeland Adult Day Care, 1200 Southern Ave., Lakeland.
