A Winter Haven couple was arrested early Thursday morning and charged with stealing about $1,200 worth of property and copper wire from the Sunshine Motel in Winter Haven, according to a report from the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Shane Atkinson, 31, and Sheila Atkinson, 26, were charged with unarmed burglary of a structure and grand theft between $300 and $5,000 dollars, both third-degree felonies.
The couple broke into the motel at 3560 U.S. 17 N. about 1:30 a.m., stole the property and took the items back to their home on Avenue T near the motel, the report said.
