Hayes Headed to Oregon for Nike

The former Winter Haven High School basketball standout will be headed to Beaverton, Ore., to compete in the Nike SPARQ Training "My Better" Finals July 23-24.
Hayes won the trip after finishing in the top 10 nationally in the Nike SPARQ Training "My Better" Championship competition held this past weekend. Velocity Performance Center in Lakeland was one of the sites that held the testing.
More than 3,000 athletes took part in last weekend's event. Competitors ages 13-18 went through a series of five tests and received a SPARQ rating. The top 10 male and top 10 female finishers were awarded the prize of going to Nike World Headquarters for the finals.
