David and Diane Tidwell of Satellite Beach, formerly of Lakeland, announce the engagement of their daughter, Kari Lynn, to Mark Louis Bearss of Hollywood, son of Mark F. and Charlotte Bearss of Lumberton, Miss., and Barbara Bearss and Gene Garote of Clermont.

Tidwell graduated from the University of Central Florida and is employed by The Lexington Hotel. Bearss also graduated from the University of Central Florida. He is employed by Celebration Golf Club.

A Sept. 6 wedding is planned.
