King mackerel or "kingfish" as most local anglers call them, migrate along the Gulf Coast from their winter grounds off the Florida Keys to their summer feeding grounds off Florida's Panhandle. Central Florida anglers can usually expect the fish to show up in our area from the middle of March until the end of April or early May. A favorite method of catching these toothy predators is slow trolling with live baitfish such as blue runners.
